Open Hours: Holding Forth (Ephemera)

  • Roman Susan 1224 West Loyola Avenue Chicago, IL, 60626 United States (map)

Holding Forth (Ephemera)
Friday, September 19

Collect and create for Roman Susan archives! Drop off copies of your physical memorabilia—photos, posters, or flyers, etc.—related to Roman Susan or your practice. (3 or 4 copies would be great!) Led by Cassie Tompkins, we will create new ephemera by making paper rubbings, tracings, and papier-mâché molds of the space. Stephanie Graham of Nosey af podcast will be onsite to audio record your personal stories and memories for our ongoing audio archive—come and share your stories!

This event is a part of the following series:

OPEN HOURS

Roman Susan is open! Join us for the last thirteen days of our thirteenth and final year at 1224 W Loyola Ave. Let’s celebrate what you bring to the space. Show up, come forward, and share. Days will have broad themes, and responsive updates—recurring elements will include drawing the walls, making columns, and holding forth.

We will be open daily at 5 p.m. (starting a little earlier, or staying a little later, depending on the day). Check our online calendar for daily iterations, and visit while we’re here. We’re excited to share open participatory events – and to be a platform for people to show up and express themselves. If you want to tell us what you’d like to do in advance, reach out. This space is an artwork we’ve made together. Come help add the final touches!
